Very capable - very light and fast Cross bracing is not ideal - allows some denting between braces - but I really liked mine - just not as tough as a GD or other hull with longitudinal braces |

I had a WeldBilt 17x42 with 25gdlt then a 27 gdsd longtail would do 21mph solo - 18mph with 2 men and gear 27 gdsd would do 29mph solo - 25mph with 2 men and gear - 18mph with 3 35 gdsd - was too much for it - flexed the hull and ran spooky fast and was unturnable at 35 plus mph - LOL Boat was old (10 years)- light (.80 gauge 350lbs) - and fast but slid pretty good in a fast turn due to the square chines.... Bottom was dented between every rib - but never seemed to affect performance just looked like heck... I got it well used at a good price and it was a very capable and enjoyable hull for the 2 or 3 years I ran it - carried a load very well - square nose was a bit unforgiving in the timber was about my only negative issue.... |

Not the same boat, but comparable... I run a 16'x48'' allweld and push it with a 2005 moded out Mud Buddy. I get 29mph in a few feet of water with no wind. We beat the SH!T out of it and it holds up fairly well all things considered. It is by no means ideal, and I wiill upgrade to a mud boat hull when i can afford it. It slides (just like all square chine boats IMO) in the turns, and does fine in the mud. All in all the boat does what I need it to do and holds up fairly well. I did have to have the transom support re-welded (30 min and $60) after a few years of tough trailering. I got it dirt cheap from a friend so it was the best/only option at the time for me. Not the perfect boat, but gets the job done. |

The newer Weldbilts were having a lot of problems with welds breaking. I'm not talking about guys abusing their rigs, I mean guys with outboards running clear water. Don't know if they got the issue fixed or not. |

FTR - mine was a true mudboat with slick bottom.... Don't know how the .80 held up as well as it did - but it never leaked a drop or had any transom issues - although I was scared to leave the 35 GDSD strapped on there - only ran it one weekend - just too much torque - flexed it pretty bad and only about 2 feet stayed in the water when you horsed the throttle - hull was only rated for 25 hp though in all fairness..... Ideal for 23 to 27 hp though.... |

i have one i run a 25 HP outboard on. every weld in the front 2/3 of the boat broke within the first year. the bottom cracked in 3 places. |

I bought one this year a 12x36. I put a 6hp Long Tail that I built on it. I put this together with the intention of pulling it into some remote spots we hunt with my 4 wheeler. We got serious stuck last year with the truck trying to get out at night after a walk in hunt. I hope it will allow us to get to spots on the lake easier than walking through the mud. I added an alum. diamond tread floor, 1200 GPH bilge, grab bar and 2-100 watt Explorer Pro Comp lights on a light bar I welded up. I will let you guys know how it works out. |
