hey guys, new to the forum. Just purchased a gator trax 1844 with a 27 prodrive motor. So far its awesome. I dont have the reverse which i will be ordering because i feel like its a must. I havent gotten any speeds recorded yet. So far its a great boat, I have it for sale which i will post in the for sale section because i am exploring the option of an airboat. |

how is it odd? ya its cool to have a john boat that will go thru muck and weeds and shallow water, but at the end of the day i could spend the same money and have a boat that i can drive thru cow pastures and anything else i want to without worrying about whether or not there is enough water. im not set on, or trying to sell the boat because i really dont mind either way. And why wouldnt i buy the reverse? its only 400 dollars and it would make it more appealing if i were to ever get it sold. |

Ok, for starters, if you buy an airboat for the same $ you have in that rig, you better be prepared for the high maintenance costs. Nobody here disputes that the airboats will run in places we can't (sometimes), what we can't understand is why you would talk about how much you like your "new to you" boat & then turn around & say you're gonna sell it to buy something else instead. Plus, you're gonna shell out more $ for reverse, when you're not keeping the rig. Will rev make it more appealing to SOME? Sure, but they're not gonna give you an extra $500-1k for the rig just because you added the reverse, unless you already have it priced DIRT CHEAP. Even then, I'd rather buy it dirt cheap & do it myself than pay someone else to do it. Just my .02 on the deal. Good luck with the venture, hope it works out for ya. By the way, that is a very nice rig. You should seriously consider getting the hydro rev & also hydro trim for it & just keep it. 4 wheelers are for cow pastures, not boats. ![]() |
