I got a 16 ft alumacraft rivited flat bottom and was wondering if it could handle a surface drive. If so wat kind of motor and horse power for running in shallow weeds, cat tails.ext thanks duckzbuckz365 |

I ran a 16 x 48 rivited Lowe for years with a 29kawi MB and then the last year ran a 35 MB and the boat handled just fine... your going to see lots of tiller torque because the hull is so lite... keep in mind these boats are just for traveling in clean water... don't try to jump stuff or run in stumps... you can run in shallow weeds and cat tails just fine but not like slick bottom hull... if you don't have a tall transome then your going to want pods put on the transome... you will wash a wake of water over your transome on a tall transome boat... but if you have a short transome your will swamp your boat with a big block motor... also fab up some kind of transome saver too if your travel much or have ruff roads... |

get the most motor you can afford. trust me on that. you do not want to be stuck out in an underpowered boat when the weather turns shitty |
