I have a G3 1652 side console with a 2006 Yamaha 40/30 jet outboard. Motor runs great just not enough speed when I get a full load. Lookin for some advice on SD motors for this type of boat. Want to be able to go shallow but gain alot more speed. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated!

What kind of load are you putting in it? Mudmotors are sensitive to loads, and if you're bogging down a 40, you're probably gonna bog down a mudmotor too. But in response to your question, at least 35hp. The rest is options and personal preference. Instant reverse (Gator-tail), full power reverse (ProDrive), no reverse (Mudbuddy), or no reverse/neutral (Go-Devil).

I've got a 36 PD on a 1648 tracker grizzly. I run it in 1-2 ft water and it moves good w/ me , my buddy and my lab. How long the hull's gonna last is another question but if I had to do it over again I'd get the matching hull and motor.

No doubt your best bet is to match a hull & mud motor. I would look heavily at GD, MB & Gator-Tail. I would look into a modded motor as well.

How fast does your 30HP jet carry just you?

Stock these motors assuming they are matched with good hulls run 28. Loaded they run less at around 26.

Modded you can move loads at around 30.

Yea after thinking it over, think I'm just gonna put this rig up for sale after the season. Great little boat for the central ga rivers but not enough getti-up for the bigger lakes. Thinking bout gettin and excel f4 with a MB sd. Thanks for the advice guys!
