MM Brand: Home Built Horsepower: 23 Boat Brand: Fisher Marine Boat Size: 1648 Boat Layout: 5' front deck, two seats in boat, rear interior pods with seat receivers on top. Speeds | Shallow Water: N/A at this time...lake is too high Speeds | Deep Water: 22mph GPS Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Me 175, 12 gals of gas, light fishing gear, battery, anchor and misc marine gear Conditions Tested In: Slight chop w/ about 5mph breeze. Comments: With my first belt setup, 1.5:1 ratio, I was only getting 18mph. I change to a bigger top pulley, 1.2:1 ratio, and picked up 4mph. I am adding a cam this week, so hopefully it will pick up alittle more. This video was with the 1.5:1 pulley ratio. |

Added a cam to the engine over the weekend. I went back with a governed cam from Performance V-Twins and picked up just over over 1mph. I am only turning the engine alittle over 3800 right now but plan to adjust the gov. up for the next outing. Al, at Performance V-Twins, said the cam should continue to make power until 5500 but I'm going to stay around 4100 - 4300 in the water. With me (175) and 6 gals of gas it GPS's 23mph deep water. The lake is still too high to get any shallow water speeds. |

Went out yesterday with my wife, daughter, small cooler, 6gals of gas, two batteries and all necessary safety gear + some. GPS hovered around 21.7mph and bumped 22mph a few times in deep water. I was pretty happy ![]() |

great post. Looks like you did your homework on the rig. Looks good. Pm me some plans on the motor. I would like to try and build one for my little boat. What did the motor end up weighing? |

Nice mine. Is your boat riveted or welded? |

Some new pics....I painted the cowling black...the red was too harsh. New clutch cover and started the camo process. |

Cowling is high heat gloss black from Advance Auto. Camo is rattle can from the HD. I will be using the tan for the stencils. |

Did you just scuff up with a Scotch brite pad or something? Looks good |

Thank On the cowling I didn't scuff it at all. I cleaned it real good with acetone and sprayed over it. On the frame, I power sanded with 120grit, cleaned with acetone, sprayed with self etching primer, then with camo paint. |
