MM Brand:Gator Tail
Horsepower: 35
Boat Brand: Gator Tail
Boat Size: 18 x 46
Boat Layout: Completely open with pointed bow and drop deck

Speeds | Shallow Water: N/A
Speeds | Deep Water: 28.3-28.5
Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 2 adults...12 gallons gasoline...1 battery
Conditions Tested In: Calm

Comments: First off...I'd like to thank the crew at Gator Tail for the outstanding work done on this hull. First class workmanship indeed as they did an absolute great job throughout. From the welding and fabrication down to the camo paint...I haven't a single complaint.

Dealing with GT was a pleasure from the start. From the initial demo rides to actually taking possesion of the boat...my phone calls and questions were always answered and/or returned quickly and I was treated like family throughout the entire process.

As for the performance of the boat..I was able to run it yesterday and again this morning..putting it through the paces and really cannot believe the varying performance between this hull and that of my old GDSD hull.

PLANING: Although 2ft. longer...this GT hull with a stock engine planes WAYYYY faster (almost instantly) than my GDSD hull does with my modded engine. I noticed no difference in length and time needed to plane with one person or with two. In both situations...the hull jumped up instantly.

TURNING: Contrary to what many believe...this hull will turn on a dime! It responds faster and tracks more easily than my GDSD hull. I always thought that I was somewhat advantaged having the GDSD hull with tapered chine over that of a similar but truly flat bottomed boat. Again...a night and day comparison.

SPEED: My GD hull ran 28ish on average with a one man load when purchased new in '06. With a two man load...it would usually run 26.5-27ish. I was unable to get GPS speeds with only myself..but with two adults weighing 200 & 210 respectively along with 12 gallons of gas..this boat ran and held 28+ mph in deep water.

REVERSING: The drop deck and angled transom really aid the reverse feature of the GTR. Especially the angled transom.

As mentiond above..all of these tests were done in the deep. As soon as I get the chance to run some shallow stuff...I'll post up.

Post some video of this boat turning on a dime runnig 28 MPH..if I ever were to buy a square chine boat it would be a 18'X46" GT...they are clearly well built but very simple all the same! I like simplicity in a design. Nice rig!

Nice ride. It's amazing how quickly an 18 footer planes. When I get mine goin ya can't even tell when the nose pushes down and it don't make a difference how many ya got in the boat.

What are you doing with the stock one? Selling it or keeping until your other motor blows up?

I'm putting it on my old boat so I can place it in the classifieds.

I don't think my 20hp longtail could keep up lol
But I have hit 20.2mph once. Blistering!!!! Haha!

Those are very impressive speeds.
