 35hp Dixie
Bought my motor back in may, took around 6 weeks to get it from start to finish and to my transom. Had a lot of issues with the way the foot was built, collaborated with the owner and came up with what I believe to be a much improved lower unit. Also the a-frame is much more beefy, made with all 3/8 and 1/2 aluminum, super durable. MM Brand: Dixie mud motor Horsepower: 35hp Boat Brand: weldbilt Boat Size: 15x48 Boat Layout: 4ft front deck, rear seat across the back
Speeds | Shallow Water: 30mph in 3inches, 1 person, 29 with two people, 28 with three, bour 450 lbs Speeds | Deep Water: same as shallow water, I'm sure with three large men it won't do as well, prolly 25 with three and 23-24 with 4. Conditions Tested In: shallow marsh choked with Lilly pads, mostly 6" of water or less, and then in deep water
Comments: motor performed better than expected really... I was told round 28, runs a little faster.
Haven't tested it's total load carrying capacity, but I'm sure with three bags of decoys, 4 men and a dog, prolly 20 maybe less, that's about 1200lbs
Dislikes, I ran it for about an hour, started getting a rattle in the belt box, little investigation reveals belt is loose so I need to shim the motor.( guess there is a break in period for the belt)
In the few yards of mud there are where I ran the motor, it performed well. I really liked the electric clutch and cmc hydraulic trim unit, very nice unit, very useful. Another dislike is where the trim and clutch engagement buttons are located, their behind the throttle, do you have to reach back with your other hand to tilt or trim your motor while running. Which is dangerous when running in a place with stumps and buskios.
I've got pics on my phone but it won't let me upload them, guess I'll have to do it when I'm home

 Re: 35hp Dixie
I have not heard of a single Dixie that has come from the factory without some sort of problem. Now dont get me wrong they are doing the right thing by making it right, but you would think that they would figure all that out before it left the shop.

 Re: 35hp Dixie
I'm not mine was built poorly or anything, just the belt was loose, 4 shims and I'm ready to roll, no biggie. Belt being loose, is an issue you'll have with a lot of motors, there is a break in period, the belts will get a little hot and stretch but that's just the nature of the beast, you'll have that issue with just about all of them. As far as every single motor having problems, not even close, they put out bout 50 motors a month. Maybe 2-3 have issues bc the customer wants to change something on the design of the motor. I wouldn't really consider that Dixie's fault, and I for one was told that any change to the original design was likely to have issues, as with any of them, hope this helps.

 Re: 35hp Dixie
I wish I would have know about them before I bought my 27 mudbuddy mini same dam price for the 35 dixie , and my frame on my so call brand name mudmotor has now broke two time in the same dam spot. Both times were welds. After this season I think I might jump on one for the new gatortraxs.
