So next week I'm going buy a prodrive rig. Today I heard of a few people having trouble with the ratchet reverse in the salt water. Can anyone shine some light on this topic for me. Im getting the HYD reverse so will this create a problem are maybe a Broken cylinder |

People's problems with the LU normally generates from failure to do routine maintenance. |

I have the Prodrive with hydraulic reverse and use in salt water. Absolutely no problems. |

That's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure. I'm buying a 18x48, what kind of speeds should I be expecting. I wanted a 18x54 but my local dealer and prodrive won't have one till after new year. Sounds like if u want something other than a 48" bottom, your gonna have to wait a while |

I would wait and get a wider rig. I've got a 60" and with the gutter down each side if feels very narrow. My next rig will be a 60" or 72" with a full welded floor. If your going to drop the money get what you will want for several years not what you can get quickly. |

DeerSlayer!!! I know it is hard but you should wait for the wider boat...in my expeirence with the 48 is that yes it runs a little faster and gets in a little narrower spots, but i find it to be very unstable when running is waves... also the 18 inch sides I think was a big mistake on my part..should have gone with the 21....my friend bought a 18x54 x 21 in. sides and I wish i would have done the same.much better and safer ride in my opinion especially early mornings. |

Parkway marine in tallahassee, fl has a couple pd rigs on the lot now. Not sure on what sizes tho. |

i was also lookin into the 17 or 18x48 pd boat. was talked out of it and i ended up ordering a 17x54. they carry loads better than the 48" bottom boats. |

I disdnt really need an 18ft boat. Ive only had 16ft jon boats just figured id try a 17ft this time around |

I've lost count of how many pro drive 1848x1's with 36's and manual fpr I've had. Several plus one lightly used GT 1848 hull last year when I waited too late to order. I don't find them tippy at all. My true pointed bow crawfish skiff was 1848 and almost like a canoe. Can't believe we never rolled it over (or submarined it in reverse). I have used the PD 36's in salt water and had no problems with reverse at all. We hunt 3 and see mid 20's with a big load. Get close to 30 lightly loaded. I never mod my engines in any way. I sell after duck season every year. Have a brand new one (1848X1, 36 with manual FPR) in my garage anxiously awaiting me to stop chasing deer and start thinking about ducks. |
