 dixie 6.5 hybrid 11'
here is my hybrid nl with the dixie on it. changed the throttle to a twist grip. everything else is stock. with just me and boat i got 14mph. deep or shallow water there is no change. runs better than i thought it would. gets on plane as soon as i hit the throttle. once i get some gear up front to add a lil weight i think it might do a lil better. as far as the boat i went real heavy with the glassing on the bottom. top and inside got 7oz. bottom also has gatorglide. not sure about weight im guessing it weighs around 120 pounds. i can pick it up and carry it pretty easily. with the motor only weighing 67 pounds and gatorglide i can pull this thing a good distance on dry land which is what i needed it to do. also fits nicely inside a bigger boat for long trips so i can get to those hard to reach spots. will update as i brush it up.

How hard was it to change the throttle to a twist grip? Can you post some pics of the grip so I can get a better look at it?

 Re: dixie 6.5 hybrid 11'
wasnt hard at all. the motor is at the camp ill have to take pics when i go this weekend. the only thing i had to do was add four little welds around the original handle because the pipe od was to small for it to tighten down. you could just use a few wraps with tape if you dont have access to a welder. when i asked ben at dixie about converting it to twist grip he said the ones he used didnt have enough throttle travel to run the engine wide open. ill have to get the name brand off the one i used cause it had more than enough travel. it was 18 bucks at my local lawnmower repair shop. ill probably redo mine cause i need a longer handle and this time i will use a larger diameter pipe so it fits right. ill get them pics to you after this weekend.

 Re: dixie 6.5 hybrid 11'
one thing i forgot. the spring on motor wasnt strong enough to return the twist throttle so i got a stiffer spring from home depot for 10 cents. its not that big of a deal you could just turn it back to idle down but i thought it would be safer if the motor would return to idle if i was to lose my grip.
