 Gheenoe with 6.5 copperhead?
I currently have a 13' Gheenoe Highsider and I am thinking of putting a 6.5 copperhead on it. Anybody have this setup or something similar? I would like to know the speed and overall performance. would be run mostly in lily pads and vegetation. Thanks

Can you post some pics of your gheenoe? Aren't they all fiberglass?

 Re: Gheenoe with 6.5 copperhead?
I've got a 13' River Hawk which is essentially the exact same boat, with a 7 hp copperhead on it. I can run 16 mph with just me in the boat and close to that with gear. My boat doesn't have the center bench however, and I sit on a 5 gallon bucket farther forward than the back bench. It helps to balance the weight, which is key with these boats and small motor. That number drops off a bit though if adding a second person and won't be able to push in as shallow of water. It can handle lily pads and vegetation fine and will run some extremely shallow water and mud if you are on step. It can be difficult to get going from a standstill in just a couple inches though. I love the setup, as if I get stuck I can just pickup the boat and turn it around or push it with ease. If you are buying new I might consider the 10 hp as that bigger prop will dig in mud a little better, and obviously increase your speed. However, if you are like me and buying one used the 6.5 will do. I enjoy the boat for what it is, and is great for a one person setup and a breeze to hide just about anywhere. If you have any more specific questions feel free to shoot me a PM, I'll try to help.

I have a 6.5 on a Gheenoe 13. It goes about 15. Actually, it planes and goes a little faster with 2 people.
