Just bought a new excel 1645 and kinda leaning twards a gator tail but i hear that the transom angle needed for a mud buddy vs a gator tail motor are diffrent. So any one have any experience with a excel and a gator tail motor and how did it perform??? Thanks.

Get the gator tail so when you sell the boat you still have a good motor

The angle needed for a GT and MB is so close it won't matter.

Transom wedges will correct +\- transom angle if it becomes a big deal

my 1651f4 excel would run 31 with my 35 gtr with carb with just me 170#and 28 with two men and fishing gear

I've got and excel 18x54 with a pd on it and it pushes it great . . . I would say go with gator tail if you're not a fan of pd
