Looking for a good boat to handle a 35 hp motor. Getting a new rig but not something that is too heavy nor will break the bank. Will only be used about 20 times a year. Want to be able to launch it into small lakes with my ATV, so it has to be light. I was told by a Gator Tail rep that I need something with a flat bottom. Any input? |

Flat bottoms perform better with a surface drive. Go wit a 16' and bigger would prob be an sob pulling it back up out of the lake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

if its a muddy lake then get a small winch to winch it onto trailer, if its a hard sandy bottom lake you shouldnt have too much of a problem.......16x48 would be the smallest i would want to go with a 35.....everybody has an opinion and if you stay within the high and low of sizes it should work out fine.......I wouldnt go less than .125 for the bottom of the boat though...... |

Gator -Tail or Prodrive are the only two i would consider ... if you have some questions about gator tail teamcamo has went out of his way to help me on here , im no pro at either brand i ran a mud buddy for 5 years and i would rather use a paddle than have to deal with that company again .... thats why my opinion of either brand will not be as educated as some of the other fellas on here , like eljelfe said get a winch and spray your bunks with silicone spray so its easy loading |

Mr. Carl Borel is building mine. I'm purchasing the 25 GTR for right now but could very well possible have a 35 before next season too. The 16' x 48" i'm having built will be a good in between for running both motors. I'm riding over today to see what all he's done since last week. Either way i'd go custom builder no matter which one you choose. To me there's more options they can do than Gator-tail and you save some on overall cost as well. |

Im not doubting that, but you are/were confusing me......I like all the borel boats I have seen and going with the extreme hull from gtb includes huntdeck bow storage and hatch etc in that upgraded price. I chose to go with wc customs for my boat because of the quality of work and the price with my add ons and custom work in the front storage. wc customs is also the only authorized gator tail dealer in the state of Texas. I would guess a basic open hull gtb would run about the same price as a custom with the same layout. |
