hey guys in market for new boat and looking at getting this from Kevin at low country . I know this is a mud boat forum and this ain't the best mud boat but I hunt a lot of open water and such. some small creeks and rivers but never in shallow mud so I think this would be a good choice for me also since im running a tiller on it. main reason is I like they lay out and wide bottom but love to have a boat with hunt deck for all of its good features anyone on here run one. if so how do you like it. thanks |

Cannot go wrong with .125 bottom...remember outboards do have more crashes in running timber. Better safe than sorry if one has a choice in marine alum thickness in any boat. |

I would steer clear of an excel, but maybe the are better than when I had one. The one I had was extremely heavy for it's size and dented easily because they used a softer grade of aluminum. |

I have a 2172 stalker VSC excel in .125 and love it. It's a pretty good boat. I was very hesitant to buy it last year because of some searches but it's a very tough boat, yea it's not a 5086 aluminum boat, but if you get it in .125" 5052 you should be just fine in that boat with an outboard. I would get the viper hull instead of the slick smooth bottom for a regular outboard, it will be nice with a keel. Mine planes very fast with 4 fat dudes and tons of gear, even had a 4 wheeler in it during deer season. Mine is set up the same way but with a 115hp merc 4 stroke efi. Sure you can get a better boat by going with a phowler or similar, but if you really like the setup and what not, the excel will make you happy. |

Had a 2012 excel f4 and already have a gator tail.. Nothing truly against the boat but if you are not in a hurry you can get more boat for your money. |

Reasonable reviews by the Excel owners past and present. The rest are just doing what they do in every thread associated with anything MB or Excel. Find an Excel dealer and ask questions. If your not satisfied come back here and find one of the many fine custom builders to build you what you want. |
