how does a tall transom or short transom benefit you as we'll as a short shaft or long shaft surface drive? |

Just buy a tall transom boat and a long shafted motor and thank me later. I had a short transom boat and a short shaft motor (PD) for a year. Sold the boat for a better tall transom boat and extended the short shafted PD to a long shaft and haven't looked back. No more water over transom when coming to a quick stop in forward or FPR and just a lot safer. |

Would a hunt deck alleviate the issues associated with having a short transom boat? I need to decide whether to go tall or short transom on my boat, which will have a short hunt deck. I like the idea of a short transom to keep a lower profile, and I can still use my short transom outboard if I want to. What would the positives be for a tall transom when the boat has a hunt deck? |

I allready have a boat I just need to decide if to buy a short or long transom I got a 15/42 alweld that I swap motors and a jack plate on |

Well a jack plate isn't gonna stop the water from coming over the back if you get a tall transom boat. I have a hunt deck and elected to go with a tall transom simply because of resale value. 90% of mud motors out there are tall and that's what most folks are looking for. |

I'm saying. ill be taking off the jack plate and the outboard .to put the surface drive on the transom |

Well what's the question then? If you are going back and forth between outboard and mud motor get the transom size that's the same as your boat. If you are gonna leave the mud motor on, then get whatever transom height fits your boat or build the transom to fit what you want. |

Any clearance issues with false transom? it looks like your false transom could even be a few inches higher and you'd still be ok. (?) |
