WC Custom 15' long 38" wide bottom All .100 thick 5086 Aluminum Square Chine Short Transom (welded a piece of 4" channel temporarily to test) 15-16" sides 4 ft front deck open underneath Wide open layout Brand new 25 Gator-Tail tall transom model with reverse. 2 people (190, 150) Battery in rear Fuel tank in front Empty 35 Qt yeti to sit on Normal safety gear Didnt have a GPS so used the speedometer app on iPhone. Deep water speed of 25-26 mph. Ran a constant 25 all day. Battery should have been moved to the front because even with other person in front the bow tried to bounce some as gas started to burn off. This little boat is sweet. When it starts to slide you can still control it unlike larger boats. With the weight of the motor I think 16' would be better due to lack of width. Im thinking longer is better on these 25's ..... with the efficiency of the prop and the power they put out, shorter boats may porpoise or ride bow high causing squatting. I am a firm believer that getting these boats flat is key to better speeds. .... how much rise does the rake have? The first pic looks like its about a foot higher than the sides...... is this the shop boat? sent by carrier pigeon...don't shoot it!!!! |

The rake is a little higher than expected but just because the nose is pulled so tight the sides rose up. It's still not as bad as you think. Has almost the same amount of planing surface as 16' boat. This battery isn't the normal size I use and is about 45 lbs so moving it forward would have helped it out a lot. This is actually a customers boat out of Ohio. They hunt private marsh but have to go over levees so wanted a light setup. I just was curious how it would do with 25. We were going go be testing it with Orion 15hp today but don't think so in 20+ mph winds on stump filled lake. |

Boat looks great, real surprised your not at 27-28 mph..... I bet if you get a little more weight forward you will see a little better speed. sent by carrier pigeon...don't shoot it!!!! |
