Post subject:  Newbe!!! 20'X54" - 35 GTR

New to the site, just wanted to share my project!
This year i had a custom 20' boat built, 54" 316 bottom, 21" 1/8 sides, 5' fish deck with storage below, 3' rear fish deck with two hatches for below storage, the seats flip forward and under is dry box for guns/fishing rod storage, center console with live well,18" drop deck to support 35 GTR. i just installed after hunting season was over my fishing gear, two 61 lb deep cycle marine batteries to push my 70 lb Minkota foot cotrol 24V. These new additions have slowed my boat down about 2-3 mph, i sure it's from the weight up front along with the 20 gal step up fuel tank. I was getting around 25 with this big rig but now im around 22 mph. I do howevere have my rig at Calen's shop right now getting it rigged out to a stage 2. he should be just about finished with it and im hoping to get good gains from the Minkuni carb, head work, cam and exhaust swap. Just wanted to share and say thanks to all that post, the information on this site is very useful and i have used most of what i have read to build what i hunt, fish and play in today.

Awesome rig man. You should see pretty significant gains after the stage 2. Who built the boat?

Damn thats a nice boat. Who built hull for you.

And did you mean 1/8 sides instead of 1/4.

Is that boat built by Shane Boudreaux? Very nice rig. I will be anxious to hear what kind of speeds you get with those mods. Let us know.

Full Throttle- No not Shane - and i had lots of problem with this guy, don't get me wrong hell of a boat builder but im not going to give him any props. he did me kinda wrong at the end of my project, anyway i will post my stats on the stage 2 gains, Calen's a good guy he knows whats going on , he will hook it up, i live in franklin and know him, runs a good bussiness and never had one problem with him.

Good looking boat....you will definitely be satisfied and probably a little pleasantly surprised with the motor when Calen is done. I have his stage 2 and it really is a different motor, even with 200+ hours on the mods with no issues!

Calen ordered a GT for me and did the mods. Boat is big and runs great with five people. Calen is a good dude.

Post subject:  Re: Newbe!!! 20'X54" - 35 GTR (stage 2 update)

Just got it back from calen , stage 2 complete. Only water I have close is the bayou Tech right now and it is deep right now. My before speeds in those conditions were around 24- 25 mph light and 21-22 loaded. Today my cajun Cadillac just got stepped up to a CTS!!! I ran 29.5 with me and calen in it, we could not get the nose down, he suggested I cut and bend my trim tab a bit. I took it home measured from out side in 6" and then marked it at 12" on both sides. Cut and bent both a 1/2" down and ran it. I did get the nose to drop resulting in a small speed increase to 30.3 mph. I'm happy and tomorrow depending on the weather I'm gonna pull it to the lease in Bayou Sale and check my shallow speeds. So big time props to Calen and his team , great job !

It would be a good idea to mount your tach on the console.
