WC CUSTOM 17' 6" Long 40" Wide 3/16 Thick Bottom 24" Tall 1/8" Sides "Hybrid" V Bow Tall Transom Rear Hunt Deck Wide open floor plan. Long Shallow Box in "Extended Deck" Storage Hatch in front Deck Powered by brand new 25hp EFI Long Shaft Gator Tail with Reverse This boat will be one of our shop/demo boats. We have had a few customers ask about the "Hybrid" V Bows so I figured I better try/do it to one of my own boats before jumping into something on a customers boat. For the first one we've done I think it's pretty bad ass looking. ESPECIALLY with such a narrow boat. With that said, it was a B***H with narrow 3/16 bottom. 1/8 thick would have made it a little easier but it would defintely be a lot easier on a wider boat. Ran this boat at the Caddo Lake Fun Run on the weekend of June 1st. First time dropping it in the water I had myself (190), full K2 30 qt cooler to sit on while driving, rear cranking battery, full 6 gallon tank in front, 60 piece tool set in front hatch along with 4 life jackets and a throw cushion, and misc items in the long shallow box. Out of the wind- Deep Water Speeds: 25-26 mph Shallow Water Speeds: 26-27 mph Second time dropping it in the water put about 4 hours on it. I had myself (190), first lady (150), full K2 30 qt cooler to sit on while driving, full 30 qt igloo cooler for her to sit on, rear cranking battery, full 6 gallon tank and full 2 gallon aux tank in front, 60 piece tool set in front hatch along with 4 life jackets and a throw cushion, and misc items in the long shallow box. In or Out of the Wind- Deep water Speeds: 22-23 mph Shallow Water Speeds: 23-24 mph Sorry no GPS pic The V Rake did what it was supposed to and made the ride very smooth. Depending on how you hit the waves/wake it will throw water over the bow and you will get wet. It doesn't happene every time, but it DOES happen. I would assume that on a wider boat it would help keep the water down due to more surface area because keep in mind this is only a 40" wide bottom. I am going to attempt to add some "spray rails" under the rake to see if it helps keep the water down as long as it doesn't look horrible. The next two boats we build will be 54" wide so I will test my assumption then. Pics: |

Very, very cool boat and good concept. I actually did sort of the same thing on my build. I'm hoping it'll make the ride a lot smoother. Did you find the ride is noticeably different than with a true flat? |

It cuts the waves really well but does soak you from time to time. But it's super smooth. The bow doesn't slap the water like on a true flat. |

that is a really good looking design. I like the extra storage in the shallow tray in the front deck of the boat. Most flats soak you from time to time but it don't seem to bother too many people. A SD boat will never cut though waves an chop like a bay boat. I really do like the look of it post some pix after you get it camo painted |

Looks awesome! I have yet to hear someone say they wish they hadn't gotten the Hybrid front. I know I really like mine. Only disadvantage I see is cost. Great job! |

MNGunner - how wide is your bottom? Be honest, Do you get soaked at times depending on how you hit the wave? |

Willet, from the widest point of the boat to the front where the sides end, how much does it close up? |

Also how much does the mod v pertrude out from the bottom. (Depth wise). This might be the reason for taking the spray over the front. The deeper the Mod V, the more it pushed the water to the side vs over the bow. |
