Replaced the 16 vanguard with a 20 Honda on the GD longtail. Got a new alumacraft 1848 rivited. I have always been told a long tail and a high transom won't work, I'm getting 16mph with all my night bowfishing gear. I might gain a little speed but I can't see chopping my transom down to gain a few MPH. I'm running a shallow river. Mostly muck/sand in a foot of water. Given the short distance I'm traveling, less than 2 miles to my spots, I'm calling it good enough. I had the boat overloaded at about 1600lbs and it handeled it just fine.
