Why did you get rid of the Mikuni?

to pay for the head work and to keep from staying on rev limiter.

I understand the point to pay for the heads to get done, heads and exhaust should be the first things done to these motors.

The cam would provide bottom end...not stock carb. No?

Post subject:  Re: stage 1 upgrade

I just found in my past motors that my stock carb had a lot of bottom end never bogged. Might have just been my setup

Correct, the cam & heads combined will give way more bottom end than the Mikuni. Stock carb just gave you back the governor system

I want to take my stock carb and throw it over board. After coming from a mikuni on my last motor to a stock carb on this one...it sucks!!

I know I had a stock carb motor that still runs today with over 2000 hrs on it. It turned 4550 and ran 35 mph. Would dig all day long in lilies and mud never bogging down. It is all a head and cam motor needs to perform. When I added a mikuni to it it picked up 1mph and lost some bottom end. That was with a evt intake. Took all that off and went back stock. Jamie it did have a carb spacer like you just built though :)

these mikuni's yall are using dont have an accelerator pump on them??? Cause if setup right, jets and acc. pump timing, you should have way more bottom end than a stock carb...

I love my mikuni but its a lot of money if you have a motor governed at 4300 rpm that is all you want to turn. Good tuned stock carb with some intake work will perform

Post subject:  Re: stage 1 upgrade

Yes it will perform great, and I agree with you its alot of money on a governed motor at 4300.
