Post subject:  Mud Motor on an odd boat ??

Hey guys for years I've pondered the idea of putting a mud motor on my boat . It's not the typical style boat u would want to maximize the use of a mud motor but the areas I hunt I typically need to ability to run in the shallows and back water sloughs . I currently have a 25hp merc 2 stroke and it pushes the boat quite well but lacks the performance I need in the backwaters . I feel now with the advances in these power of the mud motors in today's market that a mud motor would be sufficient for me ... Anybody have any feedback or advice on a motor for my boat ? It's a 17ft TBD Flatbottom/mod V drafts in 5-7 inches of water and handles better than u would think in marsh/bayous type scenarios ... How do y'all feel a mud motor would perform on my boat ??thanks guys

It would work and with a 35/36 the performance should be similar to that of your 25

Your performance as speed and load carrying would be very similar to the merc with a 35 sd on that boat, there's one running around here and does alright, except of course you can go wide open everywhere you go
