Got the new Longtail on and ran it today. First time out ran 12 mph with two kids, six gallons of gas, and myself. Took it out of the water and moved the Motor mount bolt to the forward position and shimmed the Cav plate. Ran 18mph consistently after the adjustments with the same load. Deep or shallow water didn't seem to make much difference. Still learning but real happy with the motor. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

Congratulations, Stu! After break-in, I guess you can tweak the throttle to around 4200 rpm out of the water, and maybe realize another 1-2 mph. When planing, does the prop run fully submerged? Is that an all-welded Lowe? If so, that is considerable weight but you have a good match. I added steelflex to my 1648 grizzly to reduce friction when running in any mud/veggies and that helped. I relocated the battery (46#) up front because there was not enough room for both the 6 gallon tank and it. I also recommend synthetic oil/grease perhaps after your first oil change. Have fun! |

Well never mind. A welded 1752 is a heavy boat. That 35 may hit 20mph but it'll take some dialing in. Those motors are definitely some fine pieces of work though, aren't they? |

Thanks for the input guys. Glades, yes it's an all welded boat. With the weight and the semi V hull, I'm happy to get 19 mph out of it. Gonna take it out today after work and play with the weight distribution and get a little more experience operating it. Really enjoying running in areas my outboard couldn't go. 10-4, stu! The high water closures have forced my hand and I must scout the areas north. Enjoy the beastly 35, I would love to try it on my hull. That speed you are getting is fine, enjoy the ride and wear your kill switch lanyard. |

I've driven a back water motor with a 33hp Generac. Literally zero difference between it and my 23. |

Trouser I know what you're talking about. All longtails do that. You can use the bump stop to handle some of that. I just let the prop dig and work it back and forth. |

Stu do you have any shims under your cavitation plate? Sounds like the trailing edge of your cavitation plate needs to be angled up SLIGHTLY. |
