Following the MMT Template for Reviews: MM Brand: Go-Devil Horsepower: 35HP SD Briggs (stock) Boat Brand: Go-Devil SD Boat Size: 16x60 Boat Layout: Solid Bench w/Storage, Extended Fish Deck, Dual Grab Bars, Go-Devil Blind, GD Light Kit, Trolling Motor Mount Speeds | Shallow Water: TBD - Didn't have GPS with me Speeds | Deep Water: TBD Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: Two 200lb-ers (Myself and 14-year old Son - as Tall and Big as me already) Conditions Tested In: Comments: Have run it for a total of 5 hours - twice this weekend. Still trying to get Max RPM's and getting the Idle speed right. Adjusted the Idle screw to get it to Idle at 1100 RPM in the water, but realized that I have to adjust the "Governed Idle" speed as well by bending the Tab in the back of the Motor holding another spring. Not in the Manual, but a quick search on here (Thanks DB8) and found a Thread that explains it pretty well. Idled great while running the Lake, but while trying to Trailer the Boat, Engine would Idle down to ~600RPM's and die if I didn't "feather" the Throttle. I'm pretty sure I have the Motor trimmed out good now for the load we had. It's easy enough to adjust and can see where this needs to be dialed in to get the right speed and RPM's with the cavitation plate out of the water and the prop tip about 1/3 out as well. Was only getting up to 3500 RPM's at WOT, but adjusted the Governor out of the Water back at the House to get up to 4100-4200 RPM's WOT and hope to have the Idle set correctly now to get 1000 RPM's in the water. Will take it out again this week when I get off Work to see if I got it right now! Love the Boat and Motor so far - turns great and is very stable. I've been an Outboard user for 30 years, so 1st experience with my own Mud Motor. Looking forward to this Duck Hunting Season for sure! Thanks for all of the great Posts/Threads that I got good info from! More detailed Review to follow with more use. Thanks! |

Those DB threads are very helpful... Getting some "stick time" and tips helps a lot too - post up your general location and see if any experienced GDSD guys are nearby that you can get tips from.... Feel free to PM me anytime as I run a 35 GDSD with GD 1844 and have driven the 16x60 like yours as well... Oh and the GTR guys will almost always give you bad advice here - LOL Happy Hunting ! |

Located in far West Cypress, almost out in Hockley/Waller! Thanks Giga. I've seen your Posts - LOL The GTR Guys seem like good guys to me - they sure bust your balls over the "flotation debate", but it seems to be all in good fun! |

Update: Been too busy running the Boat and Hunting to post, but Idle was fixed a couple days after my 1st post. Had to adjust the Governor and Governed Idle and it's run great ever since. Ditched the crap stock Moeller gas tank for one that vented better - realized that the tank wasn't venting enough while running it at higher RPMs so it was bogging down - new tank is awesome. Also realized that I needed to trim the engine up a bit more while running it and I'm getting max RPMs and great speed now too. Really like this Boat/Motor combo - keeping it stock as it runs plenty fast for me. I have a ton of pics and will post them soon. Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice on here! |
