Just picked up my new 1748 Phowler Extreme from Paul Sunday. Gave her a test run yesterday. I have a 36PD with iron mountain heads and xover exhaust. With me and two labs she ran a real consistant 28.5 mph running deep water boat ditches. Gets on step almost immediatly and handles great! I imagine 30 will be pretty easy by myself. So far I love it! paul and the guys at Illowa were great to work with! Ill get some pics up soon. |

HAHAHA I think I picked your boat up for you. I ran in the white this weekend. There is a stupid amount of water for Oct. i had a buddy with me. She ran 26 up river and 31 down river. It was a constant 2 mph faster with just me. So as I figure it I lose about 1 mph per 100 lbs. It seemed to get on plane just as fast with or without the extra body. I figure 2 people my dog and a hunting load (my norm) I will run about 25ish. Cant argue about that! |

HAHAHAHA yeah its 24" sides and a tall transom. I feel like the 24s are overkill but they have been really nice going over cypress knees and the crap we run in. My buddies call it the bathtub |

Bathtub!! Ha, that is exactly what CuttDown said about mine when I picked it up from him a year and a half ago. Mine is an 1848 with tall transom and 24" sides (really 25" including the heighth of the gunnel). With the pointed bow my total boat length is 19' 2". It IS one hell of a big boat but it is perfect for the way I hunt--roomy and stable for 4 guys when hunting with the Avery quickset in deeper water, hides easily in the button willows when hunting shallow in the "deadening", and can run the tightest AR boat ditches and flooded timber. |

I got dang near the same boat and I like it so far. I got up two 33 in deep water with two guys. Once it warms up I will take it out for some more runs. Sweet rigs by the way. |

Post subject: | Re: 1748 Phowler Extreme 36PD with mods |
Our standard sides on a 48" are now up to 21-22", the 24" sides do look a little funny on a 48" boat, but they will take the biggest badest weather you could imaging with ease. We sell more then you would think with the higher sides. Our 52" boats have 24" sides standard as well and we will introducing a new 56" bottom boat in the next few weeks with standard 22" sides. Again, one size does not fit for everyone, so guys can go with the standard side options or we can make it anyway you want it. Glad you guys are happy with your rigs. PW |
