Well I finally have a few hours on my new rig i got in August.

I was and wasnt very impressed with the boat for the first 2 times i took it out.
Heres what I have/am getting and now i am very happy, just miss my FPR.

Boat's a 2015 16x48 Alweld Marsh edition. It has a full aluminum welded floor, 4 seat bases, with extended front deck and back hatch.
Motor's a 2015 35hp GDSD with 3 blade prop.

First time i took out the boat,
Myself, (250) My fiance, (130) 6 gallons of gas, and cranking battery. Absolutley nothing else in the boat, i was at 25 mph at 3400 rpms. I was dissapointed in speed, but thought it was a pretty good speed for only 3400 rpms. Was also dissapointed with my arm about to fall off trying to drive the damn thing too.

After the ride, i called up Rad (Pokey79) and he came over and helped me do a little to the engine, all we did was move the throttle cable to get full potential of the motor and i bent tabs on the motor and bent skeg a little to help with handling of the motor.

Next day, i took out the boat, pokey took his boat for a ride also. myself (250) and another person (220) with 6 gallons of gas were at 26 mph at 3540 rpms.

We still thought my rpms were low, but he did tell me that brand new engines are kinda tight on the internals and maybe it'll loosen up and turn more rpms with more hours put on motor.

i had a couple hours on the motor from the 2 rides we took.
Now, i have 30 hours on the motor, changed the oil at 10 hours, and since about 20 hours my rpms have been alot better and my motor drives with little effort.

this past weekend, i had myself (250) another at 160 lbs and another person right at 300 lbs, with 6 gallons of gas. I was at 27 mph at 3900 rpms.

All these speeds are deep water about 6-10 ft.

By myself, deep water, i am right at 30 mph at 4020 rpms, but that is just myself and 6 gallons of gas, nothing else.
I feel like the motor is loosening up pretty well, and i am very pleased with the boat.

I do really like the holeshot with the motor, and it carries a load well.

As stated before, i do miss my FPR, and havent gotten stuck like chuck to need the reverse yet, but other than that, i have no complaints and Im very pleased.

For what some people pay for just a boat, or boat and trailer, i got the whole rig. And Im glad that GDSD's are reliable and doesnt break the bank.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the whole set up and where did you get it at?

I liked my Alweld. I like my custom I have now better overall but it don't carry a load like that Alweld did.

Do you know normal price on a boat like that? Or what it was originally quoted for?

I moved from PD to GD also, and like you miss the reverse but haven't been in a bind where I couldn't get out without it. I also like you like the dependability, by now with the PD my trim switch had already gone out 2x. I know it's not major, but I don't have to worry about any of that electronic/hydro stuff going out. My boat is a 16x60 and overall I like this rig way better

Have had a GDSD for a few years now and love the dependability, especially once I cut my transom on my Gator G3, but it left me stranded for the second time in 3 years this past Friday. Popped the belt twice and changed the bearings, bushings and shaft twice. Now I have to weld the bushing housing to the shaft tube because the threads stripped. I hate abandoning the GDSD, but its almost time to lay her to rest. Now the search is on. I rode in the PD, GT and MB and like the cool features my GDSD doesn't have, but the more parts, the more break downs. Wanted to know your thoughts. I live in soft mud.

Bump to the top!

I got a 36 Prodrive hangin off the back of the boat now!
Havent had time to even put the boat in the water yet.
But i converted it to a tall transom, beefed it up real good for the PD, and a Center console.

I really wanted a stick steer, but it would have been a little more money than i wanted to spend, and the console came with the motor, so i decided on a console.

Here are a few pics for the time being while im offshore!
Will keep it updated with pictures and speeds!

When i get home, i will also be painting the whole boat and motor, Adding Hydroturf, adding heads, Carb, and gutting stock exhaust. And hopefully next time off will do Gator Glide. Also having bowfishing rack being built now, along with poling platform for the generator.

I guess i plan to keep this boat longer than a year  :D
