Post Grass around the prop
The pic was taken the morning after and the grass has dried out, but you can get the jist of my question. Is this normal? I'm thinking that the gap between the upper prop nut and the seal housing is too large. Thoughts?

Okay...just wanted to check. We typically just pull into shallow water and commence to cutting. Guess we were on the right path.

Thanks for the help.

In that ropey grass it's not unusual to get some in that area, but it does appear the clearance is excessive. Distance from the upper jam nut to the face of the seal collar should be 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Check your GoDevil manual. If you don't have one you can download it from their website.

I thought the space may have been a little much, but it's only about 1/4" or maybe a bit less.

Anyone seen the grass cutter made from 1/8" plate that is welded onto the skeg? I'd love to get a pic.

DOn't run it contiuously like that cause the grass can damage your lower seal. Its normal to get grass right there, they all do it especially when the grass is thick.

Except with my GTR i just grab the reverse and sling it off

I run through thick wild rice during the duck season and It will happen to me when I am pushing real slow at low rpm. No doubt it will slow you down.

This site is awesome, You have answered alot of the questions I have. I have been having the same problem with bullrush getting into the space behind the prop. There is a nut between the prop and the shaft and I can't get all the grass out without removing it. I removed the front two nuts no problem but I cant get the prop to budge. Is the prop threaded? It's a BogHog motor.
