 SPS first time out
I took out my four rivers boat I just got and it came with an SPS. 12 degres out and it started on the second pull. The go Devil on the right of me wouldn't start and the pul rope broke and the mudbuddy took a long time but did start. We were on a swift river and it went up stream no problem. When we got in the backwater it went threw mud and weeds, moss, and other crap with ease. I am going to get it in a marsh when the ice is gone but i have driven the mudbuddy and I dont see the diference. I don't see paying the $2000 when this works fine? It has the Harbor Freight motor. What you all think

Keep us updated on how that aluminum prop and wooden bushing hold up.... My bet is you buy another frame or build one....

 Re: SPS first time out
that long of an unsupported tail end worries me, how are you supposed to dig that down into the mud?
Looks like awaste of money, they claim good deepwater peeds but so does an outboard. I dont think this has the design (not even going in materials) to be effective in mud/weeds. for just a little more (kit looks to be 600 +shipping) you can get a quality frame.

I see this is an older discussion tread. I wonder how this rig has held up. Can you give us an update?

 Re: SPS first time out
I'll chime in.. I've had mine for almost a year. I've left it outside, ran it in salt water etc.. The damn thing keeps on chuggin. Its fine in mud. It pushed my 1232 through mud, my final attack (with the wheels on it) and I have yet to break a prop. Its all hard pan brackish sloughs and soupy mud for me, pickle weed and eel grass too. When/If those shaft bushings wear out, I can get new ones for pennies on the dollar or just buy a whole new shaft set up for $100. Also, when/if the prop breaks, I got another $10 prop in the boat that I can swap out with a pair of channel locks and a crescent wrench. I'll take that all day er' day.
