Please list some of the pros and cons you experience with the SS. I definatly am leaning toward the SS but I don't want to miss the reach of the normal shaft length. Does one perform better than the other in shallow water? Thanks for your $0.02

I talked with Arlon on the phone for a good hour terrific person... I got some good feedback from him that's why Im leaning more toward the SS. but I wanted some feedback from different people to see what the ups and down s were. Like when hopping logs an beaver dams would the SS still be long enough to grab some water to push me on over.

Idacraw I will be getting some kind of 1748 with a 16-17 inch transom. Probably a Weldbilt boat I live near a dealer and are VERY affordable haha. That is the size Arlon recommended to get the most out of my 35. I want the smallest boat possible to have maximum power usage but it still be big enough to balance that heavy motor

Go with the SS, I talked to him a few weeks ago when I started shopping around for boat and motor combos and he said the SS is made specifically for short transoms. He also said the torque loss and shorter reach would be negligible.

Have you gotten your boat and motor yet? If so what size boat and brand

Thanks, I am excited to get it! Don't get me wrong though, I loved my longtail and gave some serious consideration to buying the 35 swomp. In the end I decided that with only having one area that I run that I truly need a longtail that a SD was the better option. This means that more than likely I will lose the ability to hunt one of my favorite spots.

You will be very pleased with the swomp, they are great rigs with pretty much only positive feedback.

Get the SS u wont miss the reach and they handle like a dream I run mine 90% of the time sitting on a pedestal bass fishing seat. If u have a 16 inch tansom the SS model 20 inch transom the LS model Ive owned both at the present time I have a 35 SS and love it great performance and handling I compare it to running a SD with the reach of an Longtail

I have the SWOMP 35SS on a Tracker 1648. I cut 4 in out of the transom bringing it down to 16 in and it runs it great. Now it planes out better, runs much faster and shaft angle isn't as steep. The boat was cheap, but it is designed for an outboard, not the long tail so it is not idea. The only issue I've noticed is that weight distribution is important. I just make sure the weight is balanced side to side and then I shift my weight to aid turning or to hold a line. BackH20 makes a great product and they are great to work with.

I have the swomp 35 LS on an f&f 1548 with small Beavertail pods and mine runs awesome I did some GPS testing when I got the motor in the other day running 25mph just me(190lbs) 6gal gas 80lb marine battery and Beavertail flip blind going today to do two man testing and to tweak on my trim a little more....also found that one of my pods had seam leak so that is 25mph with a pod full of water

Someday I'll get my GPS mounted so I can get the speeds on mine. Too busy huntin these days and it looks like the migration is finally coming into MN.

I have the 35ss on a 1648 Lowe and love it. X2 on this "BackH20 makes a great product and they are great to work with".
PS. see gps speed of 21 22 with me, and the dog, 24 deeks and all of my hunt gear.

Just got a 35hp vanguard BackH2O long tail and all I can say is WOW. Had a 27 BackH2O for 2 years and was very pleased. The adjustable cavitation plate is incredible. Dial that baby in for your boats size shape and weight distribution and get the most HP and performance out of you motor. No more cutting down transoms or building them up. I have a fiberglass 16ft Seminole Classic and got 25mph with just myself. BackH2O builds a Quality product and are very nice people to deal with.
