 Need advice
Gents,
Looking at getting a mud motor. I am specifically eyeing a 16x44 GDLT 25 HP rig, Kohler engine. The boat and motor are year 2000 models. Any issues with either of these. How long will the motors last? Anything else I should be asking the owner? The boat looks great and the owner says he pulls out surface drive rigs all the time in shallow water situations . Any advice is greatly appreciated.

 Re: Need advice
I'd maybe be a little cautious about the pulling out sd rigs all the all the time comment. It would be a good rig probably. Being an older model I think it just has has a 100ga bottom.

 Re: Need advice
Questions: Hours on motor? Regular service? Replaced seals and other items the longtail guys will chime in with? Prop condition compared to new? Trailer condition (tires, bearings, springs)? Hull condition (hooks on bottom near transom (hopefully none))?
And tell him to stop churchin up his rig with his pull out stories.
Good luck with the purchase

 Re: Need advice
Thanks guys, appreciate the advice. Maybe "all the time" was me churchin' it up. He did it a couple of times. As far as "hooks" I guess I don't know what that is. I have ran aluminum boats since the mid 80's on big water (Lake Erie), is the term specific to shallow water boats hitting things? THX Ken

 Re: Need advice
Gents,
Bought a 1644 GD with a 25 GDLT. Blind, gun box, serious trailer, all accessories, plenty of extras, great price. A good sister boat to my 2472 Sea Ark w/ 115 Evinrude tiller.
