Post Newbie with a question about the Brass bushing
Now that I am a mud motor owner and was turned on to this site from another forum board here is my first question to the site.
I have an older model beavertail with the brass bushing in the bottom end, when should this be replaced and how difficult is it to replace?

Thanks,

Well u need to pull the shaft out of da housing…and take a look at da bushing…if its wallowed out or worn down really bad on one side…or is no longer there…u need to replace it…before u go and do dat… after da motor has been running a few minutes…kill da motor and feel around dat hub down dare and see if it HOT…I bet your little Bushing is ok…are u using lots of grease…grab da prop and hold da tail and try to wiggle them in opposite directions…is there lots of play

Really this is a legitimate question I could use some help.

There is about a 1/16th inch of play either way, is this to much or will it be ok for the season?

1/16" should be ok. some play is normal IMO. Excessive play would be pretty obvious. Keep it greased and keep on truckin. I like the Green Grease. Synthetic, EP rated and Water Proof to boot.

Just keep it greased, you’re ok.
