Post vegas carts 460 or wait for the predator vtwin HELP
im rebuilding a go devil long tail and need a new engine but don't want to spend 1000+ dollars on a new motor
anyone running the new 10 bolt 460cc 20 hp model from Vegas carts if so what size boat/wheel are you running and whats your top speed is the motor stock if not what mods did you do
what kind of torque is it getting
at what rpms is it getting 20hp
is it worth the money or should I wait and get the new predator vtwin

Vegas Carts 460 is a single cyl. motor. The original big bore Chinese motors that the 460 is based on did not have a counter balance shaft to off set the single piston going up and down. That is part of why they are less expensive than name brands.

Vegas Carts has worked hard to get something that will hold together, witness the 10 bolt side plate. The first big bore Chinese that I bought only had 6 smaller bolts holding the side plate. Because of the HP the side plates were not holding up. If it has a counter balance shaft, it is probably a great motor. Ask him. If it doesn't have one, then the yet to be seen Predator twin will be smoother, and probably have more CCs.

Geoff said "Vibration is limited because the engines have built in balance shafts." when I talked to him about the motor but he couldn't give me a torque rating which is a concern to me
I will be pushing a 15/48 boat and what the most bang for my buck

The addition of a balance shaft tends to say they are trying to do it right. May I point out that Vegas has motors and HF does not yet have V twins. I know some one who never buys nor has any thing because some thing better is always on the horizon.

you do have a point there mark, but at the same time I want to be satisfied.
Geoff not being able to give me a torque rating concerns me. and im pretty sure those engines get 20 hp at high rpms. I don't want to have a case of the "wish I would've" blues.
im not trying to set any speed records, but would like the most speed as possible out of my rig.
before a surface drive guy chimes in, I need a long tail where I hunt. the extra shaft length comes in handy with the log jams I face.

One thing to think about is the vegas cart engine requires a 91 octane fuel if the advance timing key is installed, Not that running premium fuel is too expensive or will offset cost that much, more along the lines of absolutely needing it and either not having ready access or just spacing off and putting standard 87 in the tank... I regularly fill up the truck and the boat at the same time and would prolly forget at some point... Vegas carts has also put out a 22hp V-twin btw...
