Post Transom Reinforcement and LT Mounting
Getting ready to mount my new (to me) 25Hp GD longtail on my 1548 SeaArk. Do I need to reinforce the transom in any way? I have a 0.25 inch aluminum plate that I can weld onto the very stern. I will be replacing a 30 hp Johnson outboard. Also, will the motor be secure using only the screws on the transom clamp or is it better to bolt the motor through the transom? Thanks for the help.

Bolt the motor to the transom and I doubt you need to add any more material. That boat should handle that motor just fine.

You cant bolt those motors to transom. At least not a through transom bolt unless you drill holes in motor mount.
Tighten the shit out of the transom screws and roll out
