I've run the 23 duals hundreds... maybe thousands of miles on the interior rivers of Alaska. It was on a 24 X 48 Alweld. The performance is similar to a 35 GDSD as far as speed but will push a larger load without slowing down. It's not as easy to handle as the 35 GDSD, but is easier than a 35 GD longtail. Fuel economy was the issue for me since it ran about 5 mpg and the 35 GDSD gets about 7 mpg. The redundant engines were a plus when you are 100 miles from the road, especially since both had pull start, but if one quit the prop had to be removed or the drag of that dead prop would wear you out. If you have a big boat and aren't worried about mileage they will push a heck of a load. |
