Post New 19' Boat, What LT should I get????
I just picked up an all welded 19/48 flat bottom boat. I am going to get a mud motor, and would like some suggestions/experience on what to get.

I would like a surface drive, but want to keep the cost down, so I am going to go with a longtail. Thinking a 25hp mud buddy, what do you think?

the bigger the better, i dont think you could have too much on a 19/48!

I think you will regret getting an smaller motor for the cost, explore your lending options and do what you can to get the most you can now, you will be sorry later. Not enough motor is a horrible thing to experience.

In a out 3 weeks I'm dropping my 23 on a 1748 so I think a 25 would push it but I would go bigger if I was you and could afford to go bigger. Earl33's new boat is a 1948 and he said he was getting 18 with a 23 lt on it.

25 kohler on a 1948 will get you 18-19 tops unloaded. With 3 guys and gear in the boat, your gonna be around 15-16 tops.

The BEST my 31lt pushed my 18x48 flatbottom was 21.5 downriver unloaded. Most of the time I saw 18.5-19.5.

With 3 guys in the boat I was running 16.5-17.5.

I just sold my 31lt for $1800 and got a 35 surface drive. World of difference when it comes to ease of driving. About 5mph faster too.

I had a 1650 Xpress with a 35 hp Lt that I just sold a few weeks ago. Nice light hull and only could go 24 to 25 by myself. That's GPS speed. I also had a 1651 Polarkraft a few years when the Go-Devil 27 first come out and it only went 19-20 so I don't mean to disapoint you but a 25 on a 19 footer is gonna do 18-19 tops empty and probaly more like 15-17 if its stock.
