I have a 14x48 Jon boat with a 27 beavertail, right now the boat seems to plow. Has anyone tried the Beavertail pods or adding pods to see if it will help the boat plain off? I would hope so since the pods make the boat longer and add floatation. Any feedback would be great. |

where is your gas tank and all that located. try moving all weight to the front when you run by yourself |

have you checked your prop? it sounds like your prop is worn down to much.. that motor on that boat shouldnt have that much of a problem getting up on plane. |

I run the same motor on a 1444... It should not plow... it should plane but isn't extremely fast... one person, gas, battery... you should have no issue plowing... check the prop for sure... |

I'm running a 27 beavertail on a 1448 jon and I get 22 mph (gps) with just me and a few gallons of gas. 2 people I can get around 18-19 depending on load. I have a custom dual exhaust, new prop and a fairly empty boat. I have never had any problems with planing out though. |

prop is brand new maybe has 2 hours on it, I think it might be a weight problem since I weight 210 lbs and then the gas tank and battery in back of boat. |

Yeah I weigh in about the same as you. I've got my gas tank in the front and two big deep cycle batteries in the rear. Sounds like you might be looking at some engine troubles. You should definatly be able to plane that boat out easily with that motor. Good luck! |

Same here im 230 and battery in the back gas tank in middle, look under the boat by the transom. sometimes the boat has a small hook by the back of the boat that will cause big prob for speeds and running |

Im gonna clean the carbs real good and put some new gas in, it seems like the last time I ran it is was acting up a little like bad gas. What about installing pods, think I should wait and see how the motor ends up, hopefully just some minor problems, but I have the trusty 25 yamaha to keep the boat in the water and keep my duck scouting/hunting. |

Please go check and see if your hull has dents in the bottom right before the braces, especially near the transom. Before i put pods on that one, I would keep the yammerhammer on it and buy like a 16x44 gd boat for your lt. |

Prop = 9x6 rpms = 3850-3900 I took the carbs off and cleaned, it seems like it is not getting gas or has bad spark, so I took the plugs out and they are super black, so Im gonna get new ones and replace the inline-fuel filter. |
