Post longtail prop selection....
I had a couple questions. The first one is i have a 24hp longtail, I talked to a guy at mud buddy about the prop size and he said it should be a 9x6 or a 9x5. It measured 8 inches. Is that a big deal? What pitch should I go with on a riveted 1648 duck boat? My next question is who should I ask for when I call about parts and stuff for my motor at mud buddy that is gonna at least sound like they give a shit about talking to me/selling parts? Thanks, Jim

I've got a 1648 all weld grizzly with 25 horse mudbuddy long tail. I run a 9x6(tiger tail?). It pushes my boat almost 19 MPH at 3440 rpms (in the water) 3980 out of the water. That speed was taken with an empty boat. Not sure if the guy that i talk to's name is Mike or Micha . But he seems to answer all my questions and is pretty helpful.

Anyone have anything to say about the prop wear?

An 8" prop on that rig is worn out and it is time for a new one. The difference in performance levels will be as dramatic as when you first put a motor on the boat in the first place. The important part of the blade is almost gone at the 8" point.

my old prop measured just shy of 8 inches and I could not believe the difference the new one made. Not only on speed but in the mud too!!!

Not trying to hijack your thread and may be a stupid question but will a mudbuddy tiger prop fit on a godevil shaft?

Same deal boys. I have a need to increase my speed. Canoes pass me and my rig in the fall, with 2 guys, 2 dogs, and 12 dz dekes. (run maybe 12mph) with a 1848 beavertail and 27hp beavertail long shaft.

I put a new prop on this spring and it seems to be giving me some more juice, but I have never seen rvrn 17mph empty even with a new prop.

SHould I get a differnt prop from someone else? Or should I get a bigger one?

I am at a loss boys I need help!!

man call the guys down there at baumann props you can tell them exactly what you want and they can tweak your old prop to match your needs. and they are pretty reasonable on the price too.
