Should I go with the 24hp LT or the 27hp LT

Rickman MMT Member Joined: Thu Jan 15, 2009 8:29 am Posts: 33	Should I go with the 24hp LT or the 27hp LT I've got a 1542 Alumacraft boat with a 13hp LT running 13mph average. It is just too slow to get from point A to point B. I like the Beavertails and was curious on which one I should go with. The 24hp is powered by a Honda and the 27hp is powered by the Kohler. Both these motors are about a 170lbs. The price is only $100 more for the 27hp. Is the Honda a better quality engine?

I've got about 100+ hours on it. All I've done is change the oil, spark plugs once and greased the shaft about every 4-6 hours. I did take apart the carb and clean it out once, but I hadn't run it all winter and it was gunked up, other than that, I've had nary and issue. Starts great in extemely cold weather and has never let me down. This weekend, it was 15 degrees without the wind chill. I went down to the river, jumped in and pulled the choke, it rolled over about twice and fired right up! I know what I would go with.
