this might be a really dumb question but ive searched everywhere and found no answer. has anybody ever tried using a small car motor into a mud motor? i my uncle talks all the time about when he was in vietnam and they had big v8 longtails. i was thinking if at all possible like a small 4 cylinder motor from a jeep or a samauri might work.

Some people have put small vw engines on them there used to be some pictures on here can't remember the title though. Also those v8 longtails were pushing boats that could hold 2 or 3 of today's mudboats lol

as of right now its just an idea running throught my head but if i can get my hands on a small motor i am definitly gonna try it. my buddy is thinking abou ta motor swap for his jeep, and if he does i think imma see i fhe will let go of that 2.4 out of it for a decent price. if he does then things could get interesting!

a samurai motor would be better, they run about 75hp stock and dont weigh much at all. The 2.4 with all its electronics isnt that great, and its heavier.

you may want to find one with an alum block if possible thatd prob shave a good bit of weight which i think could be an issue

My next boat build will house a rotax 110 hp. The weight compared to the briggs is almost equal and it turns up to 6900 rpms stock. But itll be on an airboat.
