I'm in the process of assembling a longtail frame kit purchased from Mud Buddy. I am using a brand new 27 HP Kohler engine and I am having the damndest time getting the engine to turnover. My guess would be that my wiring is incorrect. Does anyone have experience putting this kit together or know if there is more to getting a brand new motor to turn over other than oil, gas and battery? Thanks

You mean the starter is loaded down like it is in a bind, or it will spin and spin without cranking?

Like you said, probly a wiring problemo.

Double check all your diagrams and whatnot.
Also check your kill switches and oil level.

Is there a mercury switch on it?

Are all your connections really tight?

The motor shouldnt have any problem grounding to the boat.

Hot battery cables is not a good thing. Where do you have your cables connected? Has the motor been cranked before? Is the starter spinning at all?
