| Post subject: | Major Problem? |
I was attempting to replace the lower seals on my GDLT the other day. When I pulled the housing off I was horrified to see that the threads on the tube were mashed and could not be fixed with a thread file. Was planning on taking it to a machine shop to see if they could recut the threads and thread the the tube a little higher. Upon re-installing I would use locktite and tap a detent into the tube where the set screw is to help as well. Anyone ever have this problem or see anything wrong with my plan. Any and all info greatly appreciated! |

A good machine shop should be able to chase those existing threads. Keeping the same length. |
