I have a 16hp GDLT with a vanguard v-twin, and have access to a 21hp vanguard v-twin for $100 running. Are the motor blocks that same size, and will the 21hp slide right into my frame? Or are they different sizes and require frame modifications?

may need to check and make sure shafts are comparible if so you'll be fine, might need a new u-joint to bolt new motor up.

i did way back in day when i had a 18 GDLT and swapped motors to a 23HP. The cavitation plate angle changed on different hp motors. You will need to call COCO and ask him if you would need to change your he will know.
Prepare for a bunch of BS with him telling you that you wont see much change switching up

As long as the shaft size is the same its a direct swap. If you have a genuine godevil frame look and see where the serial number is and right by it you should see (16-23 BS 6ft).

the frames are the same but the angle at which the cav plate is welded on is not.

But u can somtimes compensate for that simply by bending the end of the plate up or down

I bought a 2011 model 21hp v-twn for $150 running, roughly 100hrs on it. Who do I need to talk to to figure out what angle to move my cavitation plate too. And it s a GD frame....
