Post subject:  25 Kohler not running

I have been having issues with my 25 Kohler not wanting to run right. It doesn't appear to be getting fuel. I left the key on one night and I'm afraid I burnt up the fuel pump, so I replaced that. Then it would run somewhat but only on choke and then would spit and sputter, now it simply wont crank at all. I pulled the plugs and turned it over, it didn't blow out any gas at all. I then pulled the carb and cleaned it out really well, there was lots of gunk in the bowl and the needle valve was very seazed up. I got out all the junk, cleaned up the needle valve, and replaced the carb. Still nothing. I'm getting spark and still not getting gas. I'm at a loss here. I even went back and replaced the hose and priming bulb just for good measure.

The motor was running flawlessly the last time I took it out (when I left the key on and the fuel pump run for several hours), then when I tried to take it out the next time all hell broke loose and this is where I stand now. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would really like to fix this myself instead of pay a small engine guy. Might do some upgrades while I'm working on it!

check the fuel shutoff solenoid. Sounds like its burnt up and stuck shut.

you can either spend money to replace or:
Pro tip: Pull it out, cut the needle off and put it back in.

Well I checked that and it had already been cut, also pulled the carb and had it cleaned really well. It's still not running. I'm at a loss. Unless I can come up with more ideas, I'm going to be taking it to a mechanic.

it sounds stupid but check make sure your inline filter is on in the right direction had that problem on an outboard and it wouldn't run
