Got a 16 hp anf running and an 8x4 prop.

Any ideas what i need to change. If i put on a bigger cavitation plate will it help to run the motor higher in the eater

Not really the size doesn't matter as long as it's a little wider than your prop. To adjust the depth bend the tail end of your cav plate up for it to dig deeper in water. Or bend it down for it to ride closer to surface. Look at another long tail to see how they have it. You can see how they have the tail end of it "tabbed" to be adjusted

Also standfuss, back. water. Inc. Sells their cavitation plate and it's adjustable with shims, I belive for 125$. I owned one of those motors and I can vouch for the cav plate it was awesome.

I will try adjusting the back wing down.

Bent the back wing and now the motor runs where it should. But not really getting the speed it should.

Glad the cav issue is fixed. Your not going to get that much speed out of them, that's just the way they are. I think my buddy gets 15 out of his 16hp. congrats on your own custom build

I realize a long tail is not a speed demon. Just thought based on what i have read i would get more speed out of it. Maybe be i will have to put the gps in the boat. Probably am get the right speed just been riding in my buddies pro v too much and it makes it seem slow
