Post subject:  Broken Zerk n U-joint

I have a 24HP Honda beavertail motor and I have broken off the grease zerk that is in the middle of the universal joint. Is there an easy way to get the broken piece out? There is only about an inch of space to work with. Any help is appreciated!

You will most likely have to take the whole joint off and turn it at a 90 to be able to get at the middle of the cross. I would do that then drill and back it out with an easy-out.

FYI...I was told that I did not want to remove the drive shaft because they tend to leak after they are disturbed. I ended up having to loosen the bolts that the engine is mounted with and sliding the engine as far back as I could until it came out of the yoke. I then turned the u-joint 90 degrees and used an easy-ont to back out the broken piece. Removing the engine sure was alot of work just to repair a gress zerk. I hope no one ever has to do this repair. Bad thing is this all started with a stuck prop and one repair lead to another which is par for me. Anyhow hope this helps someone in the future or not.
