Does anyone know if you can still get just a glider kit?

Yes. You can order glider kits, props, bearing assemblies, driveshafts, whatever you want.

kajun is correct. The glider kit includes everything but the motor and u joint. But you can also order the Back Water cavitation plate and mount it to your Go-Devil frame.

Frank, I might have asked you before, but seeing as a BackH20 motor will probably be my next purchase, have you had any problem getting any spare parts for the motor locally in Tennessee? I do have a repair person for the Kohler, just wondering about bearings and such. Of course they are very well made and you may not need a bearing switchout for many years. I have tried a 9x6 Back prop on my 27 Kohler but it runs 1.5 mph slower than my 9x6 Hill. I will probably get a 9x7 new to get more push but I may go with the original MB design or GD.

I was so used to a Go-Devil, after a month, I over greased my motor and blew out one of my two top seals. I felt like an idiot so instead of calling Jake to get new seals, I unscrewed the top bearing assembly, took it to a parts warehouse here in Memphis and they sold me two new seals for $15 and told me they had the exact bearings to replace the Back Water original bearings. I got my new seals and about a month later I told Jake and he said the seals through him would've been $7. Haha. Long story short, I doubt I have to replace a bearing or a seal for many years. But when I do I will be sure to give Jake a call first.

Frank, a while back you said that the back water's are faster than a go devil. How much faster, have you run HP for HP on the same hull in order to test this? Also have you tried putting a GD prop on your back water, everything i've read says they lose a little performance with the hill marine props?

I've ran my 23 SWOMP on my 1648 War Eagle against a 23hp GD on a 1542 War Eagle and my bigger War Eagle with the same 23 Vanguard was exactly 1mph faster. So on the same hull, I believe the SWOMP would be 2-3mph faster.

My 23 is set to run a little over 4,100 RPMs WOT out of water and it was shipped to me with a 9x7 prop. They call it the "Performance Prop" for the 23hp. Works great if you set your motor to run high enough RPMs. I've also got a brand new 9x6 prop from Back Water but I've never even put it on the motor so I can't speak to its performance.

Thanks, Frank! Just finished our teal season so I'll have plenty of time to tinker with a new prop and get the motor running just right for the regular season.
