Alright before i begin this site is awesome, and i hope to learn a lot here. Ok i got a 1999 go devil, i think its a 18hp vanguard, and its firing off one cylinder. So i took the left side valve cover off and figured out it has dropped one of the pusher rods, so i put it back in, and adjusted the valves. So now i put it in the water and try it out, about 100 yards out it went back to running like crap again. I popped the same valve cover off to find that it dropped the rod again?!!! I know one of yall can help me out, please!!! Thanks, Chance |

I gotta coupla 23's, and one of 'em was doing the same thing. In my case, I was the one dropping the rods when I took off the valve cover and turned the flywheel. Long story short, I took the cover off the engine and found a wire had come loose on the left side. (off the coil, I think) Hooked 'er back up and hummin' ever since! Its amazing how good a mechanic you become when ur floating 8 miles from the ramp! |

shoot man your tellin me, i took that sucker apart with a pair of pliers and prolly burnt my fingers 10 times tryin to put that rod back in its place before i headed back. from now on im bringing extra spark plugs and a small set of wrenches with me every time lol ill check around for some wires your talkin about in the morning... |

well i took the cover off this morning and found that all the wires were hooked up. so now im stuck. any body else have any suggestions? |
