 Have a noise!
Hi guys I'm having some noise coming from my prop or shaft. It will only donit at lower RPM'S.. Once you run wide open it goes away, but as soon as you back off the throttle and the RPM'S drop it chatters if you will.. I have a backwater motor with a honda GX660.. Any ideas on what it could be?

A Back Water Inc. motor or a Scavenger Back Water motor?

 Re: Have a noise!
I know Back Water Inc. offers the GX690. But maybe he bought a SWOMP frame and put a GX660 on it.

 Re: Have a noise!
I'm thinking he's got a Scavenger motor though.

 Re: Have a noise!
I had a scavenger with a bad bearing but I think it made noise at all rpms.

 Re: Have a noise!
Had a scavenger, that's what the motor is off of.. That thing was a piece! So yes I bought a BW inc. Frame and put that motor on it. Great setup now! With I would have just bought a BW in the beginning!

 Re: Have a noise!
Mine did the same thing. My prop has about a quarter turn of play before it hits either jam nut. That noise may be your prop moving back a forth on the threads at different RPM's. See if your prop will rotate a little without the drive shaft turning.

 Re: Have a noise!
Correct me if i'm wrong but the prop is supposed to have a 1/4 turn of play. At least that's how Coco told me to set it up when I went to change the prop for the first time. I used to hear that rattle all the time, figured it was normal. It never hurt anything I whipped on the rig for 6 years and never had an issue.

 Re: Have a noise!
That's the way I got mine. I heard the same noise, found the play on the prop and kept going.

 Re: Have a noise!
Like everyone is saying, that noise is completely normal and all is well!

 Re: Have a noise!
Does your set up have a crush washer If it does I would tighten your prop nut assembley up. I have had issues with this and let it go it can cause prop and shaft damage.
