I built a surface drive and used the lower bearing assembly. Very nice piece....I would recommend their products to anyone. They seem to have there shit together and do not have a problem answering questions either. |

I'm haveing a hard time finding 1/38 o.d x 0.109wt x 1.157 i.d dom tubing what kind tubing y'all useing? |

Have you considered boring a bearing housing on a lathe and threading it on to your DOM drive shaft housing? Mark F. Cheney |

I couldn't find the tubing either but I found some on onlinemetals.com that was 1 3/8" with 1.18 ID .095 wall that was close enough for me. I put a flange bearing on top and bronze bushing in the center and made sure I had the shaft in the tube and it all lined up while I tacked the bearing on the housing. |

It had enough room that you could feel it moving a little bit not much. I just put the shaft thru the top bearing and the bushing before I tacked the lower assembly on so everything would be lined up |

It has 3 sealed bearings in the bearing housing. The end cap has a rubber seal in it and also has an o ring on the threads |

Yes it's just a slip fit. The bearings slide on the shaft and into the collar and are held in place by the snap ring you can see in the pics. The assembly is actually 3 pieces. The weldment is welded to the shaft housing, then you have the collar that the bearings slide in and the end cap with the seal. |

Brock2013, what did you use for a housing for your bearings? I tried to find a coupling, but it had too much play in it? Stumped! |

External bearing on the frame, pillow block or flange. Easy replacement. Good results. Someone on MMT told me about that and it's simple but I hadn't thought about it before Sent from...wait, Where am I? |

waking up an old thread here, what keeps the shaft from walking up or down in this setup? from what I understand backwater's lower bearing assembly is non locking and wouldn't the same go for the flange bearing? I would think the upper flange bearing would leak grease also with no seal. looking to build something similar just want to make sure it's reliable first. thanks in advance |

Does anyone have part numbers or specific information on the lower bearings that Backwater uses? I have a 10 hp Swomp that needs replacements. |
