If anyone have noticed I had been in a few topics lately gathering in info for my new set up..
Swamp skiff
23 swamp lite from back water ...
HereS the progress...

16x38 16" sides
.125 bottom .90 sides
Real light I can pick up back side of boat with 1 hand by grabbing transom.

I decided to build a pirogue style light weight boat, my theory is the best swamp boat is a pirogue...
What yall think so far?

That is a very nice rig! There's not too many places you won't be able to get to!

Ok, first take all in stock setup the backwater held 21mph like a champ but it did 22 mph here n there open deep water no current,
Surface tracer would blow out of water as I held throtitle knob down, handle was ackward, high an tight to my ribs..
I was running with a guy in a 15x40 3/16'S crawfish skiff..
He did exact same speed as me an he has a 23hp all stock godevil longtail...
I thought I'd walk away from him by 2-3 mph easily..

Second trip out, I shimed the surface tracer before I launched,
And tuned it out on water... 21-22 mph holding
21 with me 165lbs an my 180 lbs brother....
Third trip I took it out with a new modified squeeze bps throttle,
The throttle allowed me to run it like a surface drive an work that throttle, yea I know people been running them with normal throttles for years but this is my setup an my preferred style.
Put the setup in louisiana swamps shallow slus an honestly other than turning preformed same as a godevil long tail but what do I know I'm inexperienced with longtails.
Boat did Stella under this load of myself 165lbs, my buddy 195,and 50lbs of icechest I could slip away from my brothers 27hp godevil longtail on 16x38 godevil boat by 1 mph I was doing 20.4 open deep water..
Need 5 more hrs till break in oil change.

Do you guys think 21-22 mph will be the norm for my set up?
Or will it increase power upon hrs an loosen up?

You'll most likely pick up another mile per hour. 21-22 mph is pretty stout from a 23hp longtail with that load you described.

Yea right now I can touch 22
Would be nice to hold it no matter the water current / with or without icechest maybe touch 23 mph empty

Post subject:  Re: new setup 23 longtail

Update- everything broke in I'm achieving 3950-4000 rpms @23 mph
But the best part is o can still draft 5" of water with hard bottom, and plane off.
Think I did break my foot the from handle flying in boat an cut my leg wide open with stitches needed, itS a love/hate relationship so far lol but very addicting!

Yep have to definitely learn where you can and can not stand to take a hit. Speeds getting good.

Solid speeds. That's about what I would have expected out of that rig. I've got a bit of a scar left in the same place on my leg. It happens. Adjusting where you stand will prevent that.

Yea after the second hit I became quicker to get out of the way.
I also put a block under motor using the versa mount holes to keep motor handle from going past my knee when I hit stuff. Buy damn that handle Flys out of my hand often!

Great rig and speed! I'd love to have another BW LT and going smaller and lighter would be ultra cool!
