Backwater Big Block
Anyone run the Backwater Big Block on a 16'-18' hull..... I've spoken to the fellas at backwater.... They will be in south Louisiana this coming Febuary and March.... I know Frank and Flint are going to flip on this one.... But I'm thinking of having a frame brought down with them.... Talked with Arlon, he said we could meet up and they would help with the swap..... I have ran one on a 20"-21" transom and had a few issues.... Just digging around for a lil info.... I know there are ALOT of small blocks running around.... Looking for a lil info on the BIG BLOCK with the bigger hull

Re: Backwater Big Block
I run a 37 on a 20x60 with 28" sides with 2 people I get 21 mph. I do wish the boat was a little smaller, but not by much.

Re: Backwater Big Block
You considering putting your current powerhead on a BW frame?
Isn't your GD a short transom? I'd get a long shaft either way personally. Better reach and the best possible prop angle.

Re: Backwater Big Block
If you get to watch them mount a motor to a frame, it's like watching a surgery. They've got a couple of little tricks they use when mounting a motor that helps them run extra smooth. I'm not gonna give them away though!

Re: Backwater Big Block
It involves a racoon, a salamander, and 3 slices of turkey bacon. It's an impressive feat of engineering, for sure.

Re: Backwater Big Block
Don't run any mud and it seems to well in the veggies. This is the only Longtail I've run so I have no basis of comparison with GD or MB. I get 17 out of it with a hunt load and three people.

Re: Backwater Big Block
My BW is a 26.5 efi, and I absolutely recommend this product, having run GD's and MB' before.
