i just purchased a 1754 Beavertail with a 35 swomp ss. Ran it a couple days and with me and one other guy in the boat with all my decoys and gear I am running 17-18 and with three people today was only getting about 13-14. The motor is turning up to 3650 with a load on it and 3900 out of the water. Was just curious if this was normal performance for this setup or if there was anything to do to get a little more speed out of the boat with a different prop or tuning the motor up to run 4200 out of the water.just looking for a little feedback anything helps first mud motor and just trying to figure it all out. Thanks guys. |

I have the same boat with a 35 Gator tail on it. solo and unloaded I got 26mph. 3 guys and 5doz decoys I got 15mph. you are always going to be a little less with a longtail. you can play around with the governor screw and back it out a bit to get more RPMs. there are some youtube tutorials on how to do it. If you decide to go that route make sure you read up on how to do it bc you can mess up the idle rpm |

Sounds like the governor is holding it back. Crank that thing up and let the coils catch it |

I have the same boat with a 35 Beavertail longtail. I get a 19mph empty and 14 fully loaded. The boat is whats killing you. That hull does not carry a load well. |

Seems about right considering it is a longtail. Turning up the OOW rpms will gain you a little, but don't expect surface drive performance. |

Agreed. Look at it this way, you won't lose your hat at top speed, you'll get to BS and drink coffee, and if you get up a half-hour earlier the dawn will take on a whole new perspective, even to your ADD friends. |

What prop? That could be the next thing to look at. When I had a 16hplt Godevil(I forget the speeds) but a 9x3 3 blade gave better speeds less rpm, 9x4 2 blade was better in the mucky stuff. |

Why do people buy big boats, and put longtails on them. Then complain that they aren't seeing the same speeds as a modded SD? |

Masochism? Modded SD crowd only has to worry about the next Big Thing and hitting that cypress stump faster. Some have more Neanderthal in them than others! |
